Corsica’s unique food and beer in the limelight at IFE 2009

Under the auspices of SPTAC, the Corsican trade association for the promotion of the agri-foodstuffs sector in Corsica, a range of unique Corsican food and drink products will be showcased at the IFE 2009 trade show, due to take place in London between 15 and 18 March. The Corsican stand is supported by ADEC, Corsica’s regional development agency, and UBIFRANCE, France’s export-support agency.

The Syndicat des Professionnels de la Transformation Agro-alimentaire de Corse (SPTAC) is the trade organisation that represents and promotes the foodstuffs sector in Corsica. With the help of the Agence de Développement Economique de la Corse (ADEC), Corsica’s regional development agency, and UBIFRANCE, France’s agency for international development and export support, SPTAC has a stand at IFE 2009, which will showcase the best of Corsica’s food.

The UK is a priority market for Corsican producers, who know that the unique flavour and insular authenticity of their products appeal to British professionals and consumers alike. The Corsican companies attending the IFE trade fair are looking for partners and distributors in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

The distinct character and the quality of Corsican food and drinks are rooted in the island’s own history and geography — an island known for its wild, mountainous interior (known as the maquis), its stunningly beautiful coastline, its lack of pollution, its charming and historic cities, and the proud identity and traditions of the Corsican people.

Five exhibitors will be on the SPTAC stand at IFE 2009, which can be found in the Walk the World section (Stand N5030/3).

About SPTAC

SPTAC represents and promotes the activities of its member-companies, and the Corsican stand at IFE 2009 is part of the trade organisation’s export drive. Five exhibitors will be on the SPTAC stand at IFE 2009, which can be found in the Walk the World section (Stand N5030/3).

Since 2001, a key priority in Corsica has been the development of specific industries within the food sector. In order to achieve this goal, companies in the sector have set up the Syndicat des Professionnels de la Transformation Agroalimentaire de Corse (SPTAC – Union of Corsican Food Manufacturers). One of the major objectives of this body is to improve the traceability of Corsican products, as well as ensuring that manufacturers are supplying products with high-added value.
