Tekelec’s Epsilon DUAL GPS Clock® gets the timing right
The Synchronisation Division of Tekelec Systèmes (Martec) of France presented a fully redundant version of its Epsilon DUAL GPS Clock® at the IBC trade show held in Amsterdam in September. This equipment has been developed specifically to meet the needs of SFN (Iso frequency) terrestrial digital audio and TV broadcasters; it offers higher reliability for digital terrestrial broadcast networks synchronization.
Tekelec Systèmes is a specialist in the field of synchronization, testing, and network access equipment used by telecommunications service providers and manufacturers as well as other industrial users. The Epsilon DUAL GPS Clock® constitutes a high-tech tool that can be used in television broadcasting networks, with digital radio and TV equipment, and by radio and TV integrators.
The Epsilon DUAL GPS Clock® provides all the technology required to ensure maximum and permanent reliability of synchronisation — from the SFN adapters of head-end terminals to high- and low-power transmitters and local repeaters. The 19”/1U chassis of the Epsilon DUAL GPS Clock® allows easy installation into racks. An IP interface for IP-based monitoring is also provided.
The technical characteristics of the system include:
-GPS receivers tracking up to 12 satellites each; -Backed-up external reference (10MHz or 1pps); -Dual OCXO oscillators; -Dual AC/DC power supply; -Switching between clocks with no phase jump; -Accuracy to UTC: +/- 35 ns, peak to peak; -Phased locked outputs: 6 x 10MHz and 6 x 1pps; -Fast warm-up; -Local or remote (IP) monitoring; -Alarm dry relay; -Optional NTP output.
