TEKELEC unveils tomorrow’s GPS synch module
TEKELEC MARTEC Synchronization BU of France has unveiled its new Epsilon® OEM Board (EBO III-ER), designed to fit into both MFN and SFN transmission equipment to allow minimum network evolution cost. In addition to its enhanced second-generation features, this board offers an external network source (10MHz or 1pps) to be used as a reference signal or as a back-up source in case of GPS loss. TEKELEC is currently working on the development of its new OEM GPS clock module designed to anticipate the development of tomorrow’s digital broadcasting transmission network infrastructures.
By launching this third-generation module, TEKELEC will offer DAB and DVB transmitter manufacturers an outstanding technical solution with the following features:
-Extremely accurate and stable frequency generation;
-Low phase noise and spurious level;
-A unique time source with 25ns second accuracy to UTC;
-A permanent time/frequency phase-locking using a common GPS source;
-Fast warm-up;
-Upgradeable to GPS (set as primary or secondary source).
The combination of an external reference, a GPS signal, and a simple or double OXCO oven with its proprietary Kalman algorithm filter, delivers optimized holdover performances for transmission network infrastructures.
